About the artist:

During his tour with the Army, he compiled over 1,000 hours of flight time aboard helicopters. He participated in many combat assaults, dowed aircraft search and rescue missions and Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) team insertions and extractions. (The LRRP teams were from Company H (Ranger) 75th Infantry (Airborne). He attained the rank of Specialist 5 and received an honorable discharge.

He purchased his first 35mm camera at a PX in Saigon in August, 1969. He wanted photographs to take home to show his family and friends what he had done and experienced in Vietnam. After his fourteen month tour in Vietnam was over, he returned to the States with several hundred color transparencies and photographs.

From the artist:

If you weren't there, you don't know!
