Maggie Martin was a Sergeant in the Army, she served from 2001-2006 and deployed 3 times to Kuwait and Iraq in support of the Global War on Terror. Since 2007, Maggie has been a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War working to improve the treatment of veterans and service members, an end to military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and reparations to the people of those countries. She is the East Central Field Organizer for IVAW and on the Steering Committee of Warrior Writers. Maggie has been writing since she was in middle school and has worked to bring art and writing into her work as a means of telling the stories of veterans and as a way to build a healing community.
