Poem from the artist:
I wish I knew your name and especially you,
You don't know me but I feel
That what happened to you would have been different,
If I would have been off on my computing
You would still be alive.
My computing was investigated,
They found out that my computing was exactly correct,
I wish I would have been off because
You would still be alive.
The Army says I was innocent
And that it was the wrong information.
That didn't matter to me
Because I still feel
If I would have been off on my computing
You would still be alive.
I can't tell you how many times
I have asked God to switch places with you.
I will have a Brutal Guilt feeling
The rest of my life.
Don't ask me how many tears I've had because
I can't count that high.
I've been to the moving Wall,
And I look for you,
But I can never find you
Because I don't know your name,
I'll keep looking.
I'll never stop looking but
I know you are there on the Wall of Honor.
I wish the Army
Would have given me your name
So I could say
I'm sorry
To you and your family.
I have always wanted to meet your family
So I could say I'm sorry to them.
I would have kept in touch with them
In hopes of a healing
That I so desperately need
As does your family.
Well my friend
I'm signing off now
But my prayers are still going.
I hope you will be waiting for me
When my time comes,
Then we'll have a good long talk
And in my heart I hope
You will call me Friend and Brother.
I know you are a great guy-
See you in the future.
Always & Forever,
Billy
