About the image "Mission's End":

The piece is a digital alteration of a photograph of a B-52D landing at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam after delivering a load of bombs over Vietnam. The original photograph was taken by the artist in June 1972 while on TDY. The photograph was later altered by the artist with the help of a colleague (the artist had developed Lou Gehrig's Disease and lost the use of his hands and legs).
