Malachi Muncy

Malachi Muncy

Served in Iraq
U.S. Army National Guard

From the Artist:

It is nearly impossible to take addiction on by oneself. Honesty about addiction makes the user vulnerable to many all sorts of judgement but honesty is necessary for an adequate support. In order for people to help you you have to be vulnerable. War is an addiction that is harder to relate, but likewise it can be defeated through honestly communicating the experience.

About the Artist:

Malachi Muncy joined the Army National guard in 2003. He turned 18 in basic and 19 in Iraq. After addiction problems and a suicide attempt, he volunteered to go back to Iraq. He turned 21 in Iraq. On his second deployment he discovered that he was a writer. Writing and art kept him from volunteering to go back again.
