From the artist:

I grew up on the South Side of Chicago with three brothers and two sisters. My mother instilled in us that you must be a responsible person and at the same time be independent. And that the only thing that you have that is of some value that can never be taken from you is your education and your word. I spent two years in the Army. My basic training was in Ft. Knox, Kentucy and my AIT was at Ft. Campbell. My company was the 70th Combat Engineers. I had several MOS', demolition, infantry, battalion draftsman, como operator and Jeep driver. After getting married on December 20, 1964, I spent one year in Ankhe, Vietnam attached to the 1st Air Cavalry. I learned most of what I do from industry.
I enjoy doing art work, because its very close to creating life. I guess I could be called a theme painter or artist because that's what drives me to paint, sending a message through an artistic concept. I work using various techniques and mediums. I enjoy being affiliated with the National Veterans Art Museum because it was developed by people who really care about veterans and their experiences in Vietnam. I believe that they are doing an outstanding and meaningful job. The museum will forever bond the veterans that exhibit here, just like they were bonded in the Vietnam bush. They are left to tell the true story through their paintings.
